Member-at-large, Cornell University Council (CUC) (Non-geographic based,4-year term)

Summary of Position
Position Description: As recognized leaders at Cornell, the primary role of a Council Member is to serve as the university's key ambassadors and to be strategic influencers within the alumni communities they belong to. Every year Council members are expected to attend the Cornell Volunteer Summit, promote Cornell, contribute financially, participate in training and information webinars, nominate future Cornell University Council members or fellow alumni for other Cornell University volunteer roles, and be willing to serve on a committee. Council members are expected to vote in the Alumni Trustee Election every year and sign up for CUeLinks, the platform to connect with students.

Responsibilities: Learn more about CUC Administrative Board committees and be willing to serve on them. Attend meetings, support committee goals, and accomplish work in a timely manner. Serve as a liaison to facilitate a reciprocal flow of information between the university and the greater Cornell community. Recommend future Council members based on organization needs and member qualifications. Collaborate with staff, alumni, parents and friends to identify formal and informal settings in which to share the current university message and ensure that speaking points are appropriate for the audience. Speak in formal and informal settings about the current university message, provide subsequent feedback to Council's Administrative Board, and if appropriate, provide follow-up information to the participants. Be familiar with and comfortable using social media. 

Requirements
Prerequisites: To qualify for council membership, a candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria: demonstrated leadership and involvement in Cornell activities for 5 or more years; achievement of significant leadership role in business, profession, or vocation; significant contribution to the betterment of society through leadership in community, education, charitable organizations, or other humanitarian undertakings.
